FOUNDER + DIRECTOR

I moved to Duluth in 2004 after experiencing a vibrant birthing community in Santa Cruz.  I wanted to bring those awesome offerings here to our community.  I started holding a prenatal yoga & support circle in fall of 2004.  That grew into a vibrant community of women who attended postpartum circles, couples yoga, mama and kid yoga and other support circles until Covid upended them all.  My husband and I also held a wonderful singing circle for families for many years.  The Birth and Baby Fair was started in the spring of 2007 and was hosted twice a year until Spring of 2020.  My main goal of all of my offerings was to connect women to each other and to our community.  I now work with my hands and heart as I offer Cranial Sacral Therapy and Myofascial Release to people of all ages.  I love working with pregnant families, new babies all the way to the elders of our community.

I love paddling, rowing, wild ice skating, skate skiing, downhill skiing, swimming in the Lake, hiking, camping and anything out in nature that doesn't require a motor. 

We homeschooled all 4 of our children on a homestead on the south shore of Lake Superior.  I love tending gardens and the land.  I have a masters in Experiental Education and was a wilderness and outdoor ed instructor in my early years.  And that's how we raised our amazingly competent and loving kids- through nature, adventures, and life.  

LOGISTICS DIRECTOR

Lacey is a homeschool mom of 4 and outdoors enthusiast. She has spent the last 12 years supporting families with their early breastfeeding journeys as a certified breastfeeding specialist. She provided in-home consults and prenatal education for dozens of families. She also hosted a free breastfeeding support group, Lake Lactation Lounge. She is now retired from her lactation career and is delighted to help re-birth the Birth Fair. When not making new spreadsheets and to-do lists for the Birth Fair team, she is rock climbing, swimming in the big lake with her family or screaming down a mountain bike trail.

When she moved to Duluth in 2017, one of the first places she landed was Stacy’s Women Circling Women postpartum yoga circle. The women were welcoming and vulnerable and she didn’t have to leave her nursing baby at home! She attended Birth Fairs held at Clyde Iron Works and at Lincoln Park Middle School as a volunteer. Women Circling Women and the Birth Fair were where she found a doula and a midwife for her 4th birth. This community is also where she found her network, her friends, her people! She works behind the scenes at the Birth Fair as Logistics Director: booking vendors, sending invoices and building the website. She sees the Birth Fair as a way to connect with her value of connecting women and families to education and resources that can help them through a vulnerable and sacred time: birth and postpartum.

MARKETING DIRECTOR

Amanda is the owner of Envision Birth Services, a birth and postpartum doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, childbirth educator, and Certified Body Ready Pro®. She is also a homeschooling mother of five who loves gathering people, growing gardens and community, and apparently should have majored in Canva design.

Amanda first attended the Duluth Birth & Baby Fair more than eight years ago while pregnant with her fourth baby. New to the area and searching for connection, she heard about the fair through its founder, and her yoga teacher at the time, Stacy Holden.  She was able to  discover  resources and people who would later become her midwife, doula, family photographer, and part of her growing village.

After helping facilitate several past fairs under Stacy’s leadership, Amanda is honored to help bring this beloved event back as a sponsor, vendor, and class facilitator. She is also serving as the fair’s social media, content, and marketing director—putting that unofficial Canva degree to good use.

At the heart of Amanda’s work is a belief in community, accessible education, and creating spaces where every growing family can find meaningful support.
